Why this course?
Video 1:
This is such an integral step of full mouth reconstruction. I speak about facebow in two videos.
The first video is more of an introduction to what a facebow is and why is it a crucial element for FMRs.
A facebow orients the maxilla to the cranial base and hence creates a stable reference for mounting. Remember, no two people are the same and hence no two maxillas can be the same. They vary in position and size in all 3 dimensions of space and a facebow records each position and helps transfer this to a semi-adjustable articulator.
When a facebow record is made, the VD on the articulator can be increased or decreased with no loss of accuracy. This is fundamental to every tooth-supported reconstruction.
Next, I briefly describe why working on a mean value articulator is not recommended for complex reconstructions.
Lastly, I describe the parts of a facebow, setting the foundation for the next video, where I show on a patient how to record a facebow and transfer it onto a semi-adjustable articulator.
Personally, I use and advocate the Corident CSA 400 articulator. Further details on the same are available here: https://mikdental.in/product/csa-400-semi-adjustable-articulator-and-facebow/
Video 2:
Part 2 of this series is a patient video demonstration on how to record a facebow and transfer it to the semi-adjustable articulator. Believe me, the process is super easy.
Later in the video, I enlist the indications for facebow record.
So go ahead and see how simple it is to record a facebow... why fuss?
